So my brother just moved into a new house. This was the first thing I noticed.
This seems, safe...
ETA: We disconnected power from the outlet. :)
And as a bonus, this Nissan owner extended the length of his car with this one cool trick!
What funny things have you seen?

It’s better than this right?

Yikes! How’d that make it past inspection?

WAT. There is so much wrong with this, where do I even begin?

A couple weeks ago I had something similar happen to a ceiling on a project of mine. dual temp water was pouring out a few can lights. It was turrible.

That sounds like quite a mess.

Oh. Oh dear.

That reminds me of Home inspection Nightmares .

Don’t be so Germanic-Pedantic! Water-earth-fire-electricity they all are just elements that need to be balanced out. It’s a ying/yang thing. Just chillax and watch the fireworks.

It was a mess and a half.

Wow! There’s some true gold there.
This makes me think. The building my current appartment is in was built in 1900. If it survived this long, I should be fine for the next year or two.

That there is what those in the business call a problem.

Never underestimate the immense stupidity of your average “handy” home owner. The outdoor outlet on my house when I bought it didn’t even have conduit running to it, it was just indoor grade romex.

It looks... worried.

I NEED dis. Where did you get it?

This place has obviously not seen water.

sounds like it was a dual mess

god damn that outlet, whoa, yikes
I found in my current house (and I’m not opening the other until spring because I know it’s got the same problem) that my ceiling vent fan in my bathroom was venting into...well yeah, just the ceiling it went no where. A simple swap turned into adding that to the bill when the contractors did the bathroom...

That is the wire that feels all the power to my garage. It was like that when I bought the house. Only still in place because I’m saving up to have a 220 line run from the main panel to the garage via buried conduit to a sub panel out there.

I have basically the same wire feeding my whole garage, but buried under ground. I’m hoping to also run a 220 feed out to a sub panel in my garage this summer.

Oh c’mon! Everyone knows you need both water and electricity for easy eletrocution. How else are you going to ward off intruders?
